My Story

I’ve loved the ocean for as long as I can remember.
For me, it began with a movie many of us know well — Jaws.
That film sparked a lifelong fascination with the sea, not because of fear, but because of the incredible mystery and beauty of the creatures who live beneath the waves. It opened a door to curiosity, wonder, and respect.

I haven’t yet seen a shark in the Atlantic, though I’ve spent decades hoping for that moment. Until then, aquariums have been my windows into the underwater world. I wish the ocean itself were safe enough for all animals to remain wild and free, but the reality is that these aquarium fish often become ambassadors — living reminders of a much bigger, more fragile world just out of sight.

For over 30 years, I’ve gone whale watching on Cape Cod, returning again and again to the water that grounds me. The ocean is my peace — the place where everything feels clearer, calmer, and connected. Every wave, every horizon line, every fin-shaped shadow in the distance fuels my imagination and brings me home to myself.

Wear the Wave is my way of giving something back.
Through glass, fiber, and art, I celebrate the beauty of the Atlantic and support the science that protects the animals I’ve admired since childhood. From the iconic shark fin silhouette to the soft curl of a sunrise wave, each piece carries that lifelong love with it.

This is more than a collection — it’s a tribute to the ocean that shaped me.

WHY JAWS?

My connection to the ocean began with Jaws — a film that ignited curiosity in millions of people, including me. What started as fascination grew into a lifelong love for sharks and the vast, wild world beneath the waves.

As I learned more, I discovered something remarkable:
Peter Benchley, the author of Jaws, spent the rest of his life fighting to protect sharks.
He recognized the unintended fear the story created and dedicated his career to ocean conservation. Benchley often said:

“Sharks don’t need heroes; they need understanding.”

That mission resonates deeply with me.

The sharks we once feared are now some of the most threatened animals in our oceans. And the very film that inspired my childhood awe ultimately inspired a global movement to save them.

Wear the Wave is my small way of continuing that mission.
By creating ocean-inspired art and supporting shark research, I’m honoring both the beauty of the Atlantic and the powerful shift that Benchley championed — from fear to understanding, from myth to science, from destruction to protection.

Jaws sparked my love of the ocean.
Peter Benchley’s legacy taught me what that love can do.
