Artist Statement
Rooted in a lifelong fascination with the ocean, this work explores curiosity, calm, and respect for marine life. Wear the Wave is guided by a belief in understanding over fear, celebrating the beauty of the sea while supporting the conservation efforts that protect it.
“I support local New England marine mammal rescue and ocean conservation through a portion of my proceeds.”
My ocean-inspired artwork is rooted in a lifelong love of the sea, from early Jaws memories to whale-watch adventures and quiet moments on the shore. To honor that connection, I quietly donate a portion of proceeds from my ocean-themed pieces to support New England ocean and wildlife conservation.
It’s my small way of giving back to the waters and creatures that inspire me every day.
The Cause
Hi, I’m Donna! Nice to Meet You.
Hi, I’m Donna — lifelong ocean lover, shark enthusiast, and someone who feels most at peace with salt in the air and waves in the background. My fascination with the ocean started early, sparked by the movie Jaws. What began as curiosity grew into a deep love for the sea and all the incredible creatures that call it home.
I’ve spent the last 30 years whale watching, always hoping for that magical moment when a fin breaks the surface. I haven’t been lucky enough to see a shark in the Atlantic (yet!), but I’ve learned to appreciate them through aquariums, documentaries, and the conservation work of people who dedicate their lives to protecting them.
Creating Wear the Wave is my way of blending art, storytelling, and ocean advocacy. It’s a small tribute to the beauty of the sea, a nod to my Jaws-inspired beginnings, and a promise to support the organizations working to protect sharks — especially the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Welcome to the wave.
